1020 To Sr. from Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell} Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}4/AP.8.12.36. CHASSIS B.6.BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} - Mr.E.E.Blanc. The parts for the above car will be despatched from the Works to-day and are being sent by Air Mail. The bow of .005 in the crank of this unit is not excessive and will be trued by the .015" which you propose to grind off the shaft. With regard to the drilling of an extra and opposite hole in each crank journal this is a difficult and long job. It is only proposed to ask you to do this on the trials car B.8.GA. to which you are going to fit the RR.56. big end bearings and rear main bearing as a special test. The .030" undersize W/M.{Mr Moon / Mr Moore} main bearings which we are sending out for B.6.BN.{W.O. Bentley / Mr Barrington} have continuous grooves in the intermediates. These have the same dimensions as the standard 4¼ Bentley intermediates 2.300 + 5 dia. X .100 width. Attached are the proposals for dealing with chassis under their various headings.
