-2- RADIATORS, FANS & WATER PUMPS. It was stressed that we should all the time be running simplified parts to reduce cost. Col. will get simplified fans running on some of our cars. RH.{R. Hollingworth} stressed that squeaking fan belts were badly in need of attention, and that he would expect something to have been done by the Radiator Section by the next Conference. It was thought that the radiator on the Ripple might be unnecessarily large, and tests will be carried out on this car in the immediate future. An over-cooled car is extravagant in material and also a handicap for carburation. The question of radiator mounting was raised. It appeared that these were far from rationalised; there were too many types and everyone acceptable. Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} will arrange a discussion with the Design Dept. to clear this matter up. WJH. raised the point that the fixed shutters were heavier than the movable ones. Col. will issue a report on the matter with his recommendations. It was reported that the two ventilated type water pump bearings had been running and so far no trouble had been experienced. Col. will get hold of the drawings of the new water pump and discuss it with Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} BONNETS. Col. will look into the question as to whether he cannot arrange for wing nuts to hold the bonnet side plates down on 9.B.V. instead of nuts which require a spanner. Generally speaking, 9.B. type of fixed bonnet plate is preferred to any other scheme which is running on a Bentley. DASHBOARD. It was pointed out that Col. was responsible for this item, though he did not appear to realise it. He was going to contact Draper and issue recommendations as to what can or cannot be done with this particular item. It was agreed that road tools should be kept off the dashboard as far as possible. | ||
