X 12 30 RM{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swd1.6/MH.{M. Huckerby} 9th. September 1937. S. Bowrey Esq., Alexander Duckham & Co. Ltd., Holyport Road, Fulham, London, S.W.6. Dear Mr. Bowrey, In reply to your letter of the 7th. inst. the car which was running over a long mileage test with your NP.3 oil was withdrawn before the test was complete. We have therefore no very exact data, but the bearings appeared quite satisfactory at this mileage. The oil consumption on this car was not good, we do not however, attribute this to the oil so much as the other different to standard conditions of the engine. Another chassis is being sent for a 15,000 miles type test in approximately six weeks time, on which we shall be able to obtain much more definite comparison of your NP.3 oil with other oils previously used in a similar model. I notice that in your letter you mention the oil as being NP.2 and assume this is a mistake and should read NP.3. As yet we have heard nothing from our Paris depôt with regard to the results obtained on your Adcoids, but will make enquiries to this effect. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS - ROYCE LTD. | ||
