Copy of Letter. 111th meeting Silksworth Hall, Sunderland. December 30th 1911. Dear Sirs, You will recollect that in December 1908 just three years ago I gave you the distance in miles covered by a pair of Dunlop tyres upon the driving wheels of one of my cars as 9289. Yesterday I removed a tyre from a front wheel of car No.538 which has covered the following mileage. This tyre had not actually given out, but I feared for the tube. On front wheel on Car 500 - 5520 miles The tyre was then removed because 500 is used for long distance driving. In January this year the tyre was fitted to a front wheel of No.536 E has been in use every day since, excepting Sundays, & has covered up to yesterday on this car 7517 miles. Thus making a grand total of 13037 miles. I think this is as good a record as 9289 miles upon the driving wheel. I think you will be interested in these figures as showing what a properly designed car properly driven can do. Wishing you the Compliments of the Season,& a Prosperous New Year. Yours faithfully, (Sgd) R.P.Doxford. P.S. I'll send you the tyre if you would like to see it. 2. | ||
