1360 Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/Swdl.{Len H. Swindell}7/MH.{M. Huckerby} Mr. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Pittaway, Belgrave Engineering Co., Blackheath, Nr. Birmingham. 15th. December 1937. Dear Sir, Your letter of the 3rd. together with sample valve and etching has been passed to us for our observations. So far as the inspection of the sample valve, this appears to be a good piece of work both with regard to the forging flow lines as revealed in the etching, also the fracture section is good. We assume that these valves are made of a Silichrome material and would like to know whether you have experience of producing valves in KE.965 in the same manner. We enclose detail drawings of our valves both Inlet and Exhaust which are made in Silichrome and KE.965 respectively and would like quotations from you, say in quantities of 1,000 and 5,000 valves if forged in the same manner and finish as per your sample. This to be given in the case of us supplying the bar material to what dimensions you require or in the case of you supplying the material. If your price is satisfactory then we would like to make arrangements for trial valves to be produced for us. Will you please regard these drawings as confidential. We understand that our Order Office are already in correspondence with you regarding push rods. Yours faithfully, for ROLLS-ROYCE LTD. | ||
