X. 8460 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to CJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}1/M5.12.25. PETROL TANK - EAC.6. In reply to your BY/C10/DB{Donald Bastow - Suspensions}21.2.25, we send herewith N.sch.2100 shewing a suggestion for reducing the amount of petrol lost when the air lock is formed. It is not suggested that this is a cure for the air lock but for keeping the air exit free as long as possible it is suggested that it will reduce the actual amount of petrol blown out, and we should like it tried. Unless we go through the frame, which we do not wish to do, or above the frame, it is difficult to get rid of the air lock without much reducing the size of the vent, or some modification of that kind. We do not wish to do this if we can help it. On N.sch.2100 is also shewn some suggestions for reducing the strength of the spring lock on the cap. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
