We send you herewith:- LeC.4902 showing two experimental schemes for improving the functioning of the steam valve. The first scheme shows the diaphragms made with corrugations which should be more flexible in shape, and the joining of the plates is made by rolling up the edges. In scheme No.2. the diaphragms are flat and are joined together by peening over the edges of brass plates which separate the discs. We have altered the size of the spring and also the hexagon for screwing in the overflow pipe has been placed at the bottom instead of the top in order to avoid distorting the valve seat. As these are developable experiments will you please put rough details in hand as soon as possible. E/JNR.{Charles L. Jenner} LeC.4902 herewith. | ||
