X,4226. To Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to CJ. Wor.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} c. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} GOSHAWK 11. VALVES. X.4226. R1/M9.12.22. With reference to the recent burnt valve we have had on 7-Goshawk, I think we might try the following modifications with a view to reducing the working temperature of the valves :- (1) Wider seat. (2) Different angle of seat. The present angle is 15° - we might try 30° and 40°. (3) Larger spindle. (4) Good valves - at present for trying different material i.e., real Firths Stainless, and any other. R.{Sir Henry Royce} | ||
