The rear spring back plate is much simpler and will merely require an eye rolling from stock of the finished size. This operation should be done in a hand machine as the quantity we require would not justify us putting down a regular power machine for this work.

I attach herewith a schedule showing the machines required, in the order given above, and the approximate price for each.

With the equipment given we could produce twice the number of springs we require. If we should require more springs, it will be merely necessary to increase the furnace and fitting capacity.

I have gone to some length in outlining the procedure which we propose to follow and also the difficulties which we have had in obtaining the springs in order that Mr. Royce may fully understand our position in the matter and perhaps offer some other suggestions. In any case, we are most anxious that he should not think we are taking this serious step without having fully considered the difficulties encountered, and the methods adopted, by the various makers of springs to overcome them.
