of about 1/8" thickness, and the negative was merely a perforated lead envelope. This was sent out in a fully charged condition, as far as the positive was concerned, and the cell was put into action by dropping small pellets of Cadmium into the negative envelope. The Cadmium was slowly dissolved in the same way as Zinc is in a primary battery.

If you are interested in this matter I will look up further records with reference to the use of Cadmium.

There is no doubt that you could easily provide your-self with some properly protected Cadmium sticks for use in testing the condition of plates in starter batteries.
