In order to avoid the possibility of misunderstanding, we want to make it quite clear that all "U" series chassis, i.e. front wheel brake type, are being despatched from the Works with temporary front springs. These are 25% stiffer springs which were originally standardised for this series, but which have now been cancelled. The standardisation sheet for the correct strength of spring has not yet been signed. The object of this note is to point out that all front wheel brake chassis which have been delivered and those now being delivered are to have the front springs changed before they are delivered to customers. We shall be glad to know from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} and Wd.{Mr Wood/Mr Whitehead}, who will be dealing with the question of correct springs for these cars, as soon as possible what prospects there are of getting hold of suitable springs for cars already delivered. The total number at the moment of writing is 21, and as we have now got the release note from Sales Dept. for chassis with front wheel brakes, there will be a rapid addition to this number from day to day. We also understand that there are several other alterations, such as reduced servo action, damping of servo balance arm, stronger front axle pull off spring, which require incorporation on all "U" series chassis. If this is so will BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} please instruct accordingly so that all these points may have attention at the same time. [STAMP] A.{Mr Adams} EP{G.
