MARINE ENGINES.

It will be remembered that the work necessary on this job was outlined in the Minutes of the Meeting held on 1st. February, 1940. Designs have therefore been in hand for 7 weeks. A lot of work has been done but we are particularly anxious to finalise the requirements, and having done this, to establish a date when we may expect the design work to be completed.

The programme we are out to fulfil is as follows:-

BOATS INTO WHICH THE R.R. MARINE UNITS WILL BE FITTED.

There are two boats available for the Rolls Royce units.

1. Admiralty.

They want two 6-cylinder engines. Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/AA{D. Abbot-Anderson} is providing pictures of the room for installation.

2. Civil Boats.

We already have a picture of a boat into which 2 8-cylinder engines are to be fitted. This boat is in the hands of Mr. Hagg.

The object of both installations is to get the maximum amount of running on our marine engines in the minimum time to establish the reliability of the marine modifications which we are making to our engines.

The first thing to do is to get an 8-cylinder engine cleared up as we have particulars of the boat into which this is to be fitted, then we will clear the 6-cylinder unit.
