He was going over to the B.U.S.M. towards the end of the week to discuss their findings with regard to the tooling for the guns, also the number per week which they can make with those tools if they are not allocated any machines.

A meeting was arranged for 5.45 a.m. on Tuesday September 2nd, in Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}'s Office, to run over the production programme, prior to the meeting in the afternoon with the Admiralty.

Elk. raised the question as to whether he should tell the sub-contractors he had located, that they were no longer wanted, but Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said that this matter could be brought up again at the Tuesday Meeting.

5. 25 SINGLE SHOT AERODROME DEFENCE GUNS FOR THE AIR MINISTRY.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} said that the contract for this was being put through and that these would be assembled at Derby.

6. 40 mm. GUN WITH AUTOMATIC FEED.

It was pointed out that this gun was now behaving reasonably well and that it had shown itself capable of firing single shots and bursts up to thirteen rounds without stoppages.

The point that was not satisfactory was the mechanism available for inserting the first round and this was being dealt with by Ve.

Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} asked how B.U.S.M. were getting on with their magazine. So far they have not issued any drawings or report.

It is understood however, that it is being designed for the rear feed position.

7. 2 GUNS FOR THE BEAUFIGHTER.
