We have received the following note from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} re subsistence allowance. There has been a good deal of confusion with regard to this in the past, but we hope to get everybody settled up for the money they are owed up to June 1st, and after that the arrangement outlined below in Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/DK.31.5.40. comes into operation. We will ascertain what subsistence is payable to people who live in Derby as soon as we can. --- Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}5/DK.31.5.40. The question of subsistence allowance for employees working at Belper and Duffield has been re-considered. From June 1st, no subsistence allowance will be paid to employees residing in any of the following places: Belper Allestree Idridgehay Kedleston Duffield Breadsall Quarndon Holbrook Heage.
