Your memo Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}10/MJ.8.12.32. re. arrangements for returning.

We received instructions from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Re memo Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}4/MJ.30.11.32.. The car will leave here on the 20th. without further instructions are received, and should arrive at Derby on the 23rd inst. We shall have completed 10,000 miles by then and any serious faults should have become noticeable. We are running over the worst possible roads that can be found.

RE. EXHAUST VALVES.

We are occasionally getting speeds over 75 m.p.h. but possibly of not sufficient duration to obtain or show the weakness you mention. It would, however, be advisable to have a look at them, and as we are going to have another attempt with the transmission rattles, we will take the opportunity to dismantle the cylinder head.

RE. YOUR SLIPPING CLUTCH.

Our clutch slipped through oil getting on the front fabric. This did not again occur after we had cured the oil leak past the rear of the engine. We believe your trouble is due to this cause. The front of the clutch casing is open for the toggle levers, and any oil floating about is swished in and on to the fabric.

MECHANICS JOINTS.

We thank you for your remarks. The trouble should be cleared up, but apparently the design is too near the margin for a 100% job.

OIL TEMPERATURE.

The car was stopped at breakfast time and the slot cut in the under pan. We hope for the best, but our temperatures have still remained high with the air temperature below zero. Is it recognised that with 1.25 gallons of
