SG.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} FROM E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} X6105 SECRET E/M7.2.31. Copy to WOR.{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager} Copy to HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} X 6105 DOUBLE BATTERY IGNITION ON JAPAN 3. & PHANTOM 2. In connection with the above we are asking R.{Sir Henry Royce} to let us make one distributor head only instead of two to avoid duplicating the drives and governors. We have also since found that with the growing adoption of twin battery ignition in USA. the former is the method that is being employed as exemplified on the latest Stutz 8 cyl., the Continental 'R' 6, and probably the Nash. We attach herewith a leaflet giving the London agents for the Continental engine and we wondered if one of the technical staff at Conduit St.{Capt. P. R. Strong} could kindly find out for us how the twin sources of H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} T. current are conveyed on to the rotor from the distributor head. One solution of the difficulty in connection with this is described in memo. E1/M2.2.31. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} | ||
