Suggested assembly order for the 3/21 Goshawk 11 gearbox.

| 31st. Januaryn 1921. SUGGESTED ORDER OF ASSEMBLING 3/21 GEARBOX - "GOSHAWK 11". (1) Fit in top middle ball bearing and fix. (2) Put in all bolts and ring same where required. (3) Put in large helical wheel and adjacent wheel loosely in box. (4) With box on side or other convenient position, put in small slider through hole in top of box. (5) With box in same position put in longer slider through large hole in front end of box. (6) Put in lower shaft with middle bearing, 19 tooth pinion and rear bearing complete, at the same time threading on and pressing home large helical wheel and 28 tooth wheel in the front compartment of box. (7) With box resting on its front end, put in reverse pinion complete, and with it the steel thrust washers at either end. (8) Put reverse pinion pin in position. (9) Put in large wheel at rear end through hold and slots in top of box, and engage same with short slider. (10) Put in guide for short slider and fix. (11) Put in 28 tooth sliding wheel and engage same with long slider. (12) Put in andfix long slider guide. (13) Put in long bolt through lower shaft. (14) With box standing on front end, and 37 tooth wheel resting on middle ball bearing, put in upper shaft including rear end ball bearing, and all parts fixed to rear end of shaft, also with rear cover in position on shaft, at the same time threading shaft through 37 tooth wheel and middle ball bearing. (15) With box on side, or other convenient position push upper shaft still further, and thread through a 28 tooth wheel which is held to receive it through the large hole in front of box. Press home shaft, and cover and bolt. (16) Put on and fix Hyatt bearing with its washers. (17) Put on large front cover, and bolt up. contd. | ||
