Dear Mr Robotham:

In reply to your letter of the 19th instant, we are quite prepared to allow Mr Eccles to come down here and study equipment for two or three days commencing Monday, January 25th.

With reference to the gears which you wish us to heat treat for you; before you go ahead and finish machining it will be advisable for you to submit to us a print giving finished dimensions of the part so that we may advise whether it is necessary for any allowance to be made for finishing after heat treatment.

We finish machine the teeth of a gear completely prior to the cyanide treatment, but on some contours it may be necessary to allow a few thousandths of an inch for final grinding.

Will you bear this in mind please?

Yours very truly
