To EY. He. from DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} X7310 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}3/M16.11.26. GEAR RATIOS. X. 8310 X. 7310 X.5310 With reference to R3/M8.11.26., we have looked into the question of providing high gear ratios on the 40/50 and 20 HP. cars. We think however that the matter is not sufficiently settled as yet for us to send you any definite instructions, and we are with-holding the drgs. we have made until the matter has been gone into a little further. It would be possible to get the required ratio on the 20 HP. by using 14/50 gears, and on the Phantom by using 18/52 gears, neither of which present any difficulties. On the EAC.1. or 7. however it is not possible to get a suitable ratio into the present box, but it is easily possible to get it on to the hypoid axle, and we think it may resolve itself into the use of this axle on the high speed car in the form of a modified EAC.7. We expect to send you further instructions with regard to the whole of this matter in the course of a short while. DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} | ||
