To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} From DA.{Bernard Day - Chassis Design} c. to BJ. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} 47310 DA{Bernard Day - Chassis Design}3/M23.11.27. EAC.10. GEARBOX. X.7310 X.7370 Herewith we send N.sch. 2508 shewing the assembly of the servo worm gear. The object of sending you this is to ascertain that the worm can be cut and ground on the hub of the great wheel as shewn, and secondly to ask you to send drgs. of the blanks to Messrs. Bostock & Bramley. so that they may make us a specimen pair. We estimate that the max. torque the worm will be asked to transmit is 2,000 lbs.ins. The worm speed we think should be taken at between 600 and 800 revs. a minute, representing approx. the slowest speed at which the servo is likely to be used for any length of time.
