To Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} c. to HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Wym.{G. Harold Whyman - Experimental Manager} X4707 HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls}5/KW.10.12.34. Graham at Conclusion of 10,000 miles. Run of 462 miles on speedometer. This was found to be 4% fast. Actual mileage 444 for 39 gallons = 11.4 m.p.g. Have to fill up every 150 miles. ENGINE. Hunts badly at tick-over, and finally stops. Blower has become much more noisy. Considerable other noise due to fan? Bad smell of petrol on bumps and R.H. corners. Starts from cold easily, but oil pressure does not build up for about 3 minutes. Starves of petrol at high speeds, particularly up hill on 2nd gear. CHASSIS. Hand brake full on has no effect. Foot brake fades after use and will not even lock wheels on wet road. At all times requires far too much pressure. Throttle spring also far too strong; requires more effort at full throttle than Mercedes blower. Steering very inclined to wander. HS{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Gry.{Shadwell Grylls} | ||
