Streamlined Bentley Tests.
-------------------------

A Hut will be provided on the track for the purpose of refuelling during bad weather. The doors can open at either end. It will be fitted out with lights and points for inspection lamps, etc. There will also be an anthracite stove for heating during the night, and any cooking that has to be done for the men such as bacon and eggs. (We hope the bacon will be brought over from England!)

Two bedsteads can be provided in the Hut by the Autodrome authorities, together with the necessary blankets. These would be for any of the men to use should they be unduly fatigued.

As regards sleeping accomodation, for spare drivers, this will be provided by the Autodrome in the Infirmary, which is on the track behind the Timekeeper's Box.

FUEL- This can be obtained from the Autodrome at two day's notice, which I will give. As to the refuelling arrangements, the S.G.H.P. in the rue de la{L. A. Archer} Bienfaisance, Paris, are having my refuelling tank at Montlhery properly prepared and cleaned out, also reconditioned to receive the fuel, which will come from England, and this will also be in the hands of the S.G.H.P.

You will appreciate that for all our jobs over here up to the present, we have been satisfactorily using Azur 80 Octanes. Eddy Hall used a mixture of 50% Benzol and 50% straight Shell. I understand that an 80 Octanes fuel is going to be used in the form of B.P. Ethyl. Is this so ?

LUBRICATING OIL- This will probably be supplied by Castrol in Paris, and here again I shall take the matter up with Castrol in London, so as to find out whether the supply will be made by London or Paris.

TYRES- These are to be supplied by Fort Dunlop of Birmingham and sent to their Paris firm. They will be of suitable dimensions, and no less than 40 will be supplied, i.e. track tyres, plus further road racing tyres in case of bad weather. With regard to cutting the road racing tyres, application must be made to the Técal{Mr Calvert}émit firm so as to have one of their machines in the Hut, as in the past. I shall have this attended to when I arrive, or else by their people if I am held up. They will supply a man to superintend the cutting of the tyres in case of emergency.

If we use racing tyres (track), Fort Dunlop can manufacture in three weeks, and therefore I have verified that if they are given the order by the end of next week, the tyres should be available in Paris by the third week in March. It would be preferable if Dunlops agree to our running with 6 x 19 tyres all round.

LOCK UP- This Lock-up is underneath the track, and quite near to the Dunlop Box in the same locality. It has a wooden floor and is quite suitable for leaving a car, as it is provided with water, and is not damp.
