Wor{Arthur Wormald - General Works Manager}3/GR.{George Ratcliffe}12.4.33. MATTERS ARISING OUT OF MINUTES OF CONFERENCE - MARCH 9TH 1933. CHASSIS. MINUTE 1. J.II or J.III Progress generally. Self-adjusting Tappets. Certain re-designing in hand. Modified front axle also in hand. LATEST POSITION AT 12.4.33. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} states this car is running with automatically adjusted tappets. Car tried by Sg.{Arthur F. Sidgreaves - MD} and PH. on Brooklands 6.4.33. Front axle made out of existing forging is being produced. MINUTE 2. PEREGRINE GENERALLY. Oil Consumption. Oil Temperature. Petrol Consumption. When definite progress has been made on the above, Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} will send the car back to France to continue running. Peregrine dynamo is held up until we can get the modified crankcase which allows the dynamo to run at lower speeds. Bensport is having preference, and it should be several weeks before we have a Peregrine fitted with the correct dynamo. Further experiments are in hand to overcome the bad distribution and consumption on Peregrine. We are in touch with E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} on this matter. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} states instructions were issued (29.3.33.) to RHC.{R. H. Coverley - Production Engineer} to produce an oil cooler to LeC 3431. Modified oil relief unit showing oil cooler connection to LeC 3438 issued 5.4.33, also LeC 3438 showing Layout of oil pipe connections and supports. Switchbox. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} points out that R.{Sir Henry Royce} in his memo R.3/H.28.3.33. agrees to keep the ignition switch separate from the lighting switch, also to arrange the former above the latter as shown in scheme D.Sch.634. E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} is, therefore, going ahead with the design of switchbox on these lines. The only point now left in doubt is the number and arrangement of the contact positions, but E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} is dealing with this. | ||
