x3806. To NRC.{N. R. Chandler} (Bombay). From Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson}1/MJ.12.11.30. C. to BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} Hd.{Mr Hayward/Mr Huddy} With reference to NRC{N. R. Chandler}10/G9.10.30. We note your remarks re the dryness of the back end of the rear springs. We ourselves have come across this trouble and in a number of cases it has been due to the tip of the second leaf making a poor bed on the main leaf, the result being that oil can leak out at this point. We agree, however, that in certain cases even when the rear spring is normal, the supply of oil seems inadequate. From what you say the S.2. drip plugs which you have fitted are working satisfactorily otherwise we should have suspected that they were getting blocked up. We suggest that first of all you replace the existing S.2 plugs by new S.3 plugs and see that the quantity of oil which reaches the spring is increased appreciably, and if not, we recommend that you fit S.3 plugs to take the place of the S.2. "We are getting the Repair Dept., to send you out the necessary stock of drip plugs. Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rn.{Mr Robinson} | ||
