-3- Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}5/KW.10.1.36. FORD V-8. With regard to this car, I must say everyone who tried it agreed that it was a remarkable proposition for the money. It is really an exceedingly handy little car, and as you will see from the attached figures, the performance is well up to that of the Lincoln up to 70 m.p.h. Its short wheelbase, small turning circle, etc., all make it attractive. Naturally this car is not meant to be driven like a Bentley, and in consequence criticisms of brake fade and road holding for high speed cornering are really irrelevant. I did feel, however, that considering the size of the engine and the weight of the car, the performance might have been obtained with a little less fuss, particularly in view of the progress which rubber engine mountings have recently made. Thank you very much indeed for letting us try these cars, and I hope that a little later on we shall be able to let you try one of the Phantom III's as ready for the public. Yours sincerely, | ||
