Recurring issue with Bentley rear brake drums rubbing and a proposed solution.

Approximately eighteen months ago L.Archer went into the question of the brake drums fouling the outer edge of the brake shoes in service and it was found that if all the minus allowances were one way the drum fouled the shoes. He informed K/KC that the matter had been taken up. The trouble has not been overcome and new 4 1/4 Bentleys are coming into the Depot with this complaint. A .015" to .018" washer fitted behind the ball race to throw the brake drum further out overcomes the trouble. Apparently it does not show up until the ball races have freed themselves with running.
