From F.H.R., Copies sent to: Mr. Johnson, Mr. Wormald, Mr. Nadin, Re Back Axle Periods and Bevel gears wearing noisy I think that it is highly desirable that we do not use too low a gear at present and that we make our gears of as fine a pitch as possible. The fine pitches, in the long run, will be the quieter axles, even if they are not quite so quiet to begin with.
