Heating of Cars.

With reference to PNB/DM{D. Munro}23.8.26, this is a serious matter. There is no doubt that there is considerable discomfort inside the majority of closed New PhantomCodename for PHANTOM I Cars owing to their overheating through the floor-boards.

I attach copy of memorandum showing recent experiments which have been made and suggestions which have been sent to R.{Sir Henry Royce} for consideration. I suggest this should be considered at to-day's Sales Conference and that we might put forward suggestions immediately to R.{Sir Henry Royce} of the manner in which we consider it could be dealt with on all cars which may be delivered in the future from the end of this month onwards until the technical officials have come to a conclusion how the matter should be dealt with permanently.

It seems that possibly we might give instructions to all coachbuilders to put a double layer of asbestos underneath all floor-boards, or something of that sort, to help us to carry on for the present.

BJ.
