- 20 - made as small as desired to give the required resistance to rolling. The same principle can be employed mechanically. PRINCIPAL OF HYDRAULIC ANTI-ROLLING DEVICE CHASSIS FRAME The objection to anti-rolling devices is that it is not always desirable that the axle should move parallel to the frame, more especially when one wheel only is negotiating a bump. Such fitments therefore are liable to promote harsh riding under certain conditions. V.{VIENNA} UNCONVENTIONAL SUSPENSIONS. (a) Helical springs with fluid friction. From previous remarks it will have been gathered that helical springs with fluid damping present a very promising field for improved suspension. The main advantage of helical springs is that they are light, have no internal friction and can be used in series and so provide a variable rating suspension. contd. | ||
