45240 Hotel de France, Chateauroux Indre. France. GWH.{George W. Hancock - Head Chateauroux}I/Crn.27.8.25. To: "Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}" From: G.W.Hancock, Chassis 9 G.III. Re increase in oil consumption, as per our daily report of the 26th inst., this is going up alarmingly. There are no outward leaks of any description to account for this. The examination of cylinders shews Nos. 1, 3, 5 & 6 to be over-oiling, and in a very wet condition. We presume that either the rings have become stuck up, or have become worn in the same condition as experienced on the E.A.C. Will you please let us know whether you consider it necessary to dismantle the engine, to find out if this is the cause. Also, do you wish us still to keep up 500 miles per day, at the same time as carrying out the various experimental tests. We should like to know this because there may be some criticisms if our days' miles are short. G.W.Hancock. | ||
