re. 20-HP. Burnt Exhaust Valves.

Further to our previous memos pointing out the trouble we are experiencing with exhaust valves burning on 20-HP. cars in service (See EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}1/H28.12.23) we are today sending you a further sample of this, taken off chassis GAK-40.

The customer called with this car last Saturday, the 12th. inst. complaining sadly about misfiring trouble, which we were able to overcome by changing over the valve. The remaining valves in the cylinder head were quite in order.

This is a really bad case of a burnt valve It is one of the latest type 45° angle seating and we have today handed the valve to Hl. as per his request for further investigations continuing on those made as per memo referred to above.

We also found a broken valve spring on this engine, but not on the burnt valve. This we have also handed to Hl.
