N-W EP {G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} Br1/S. 24.3.26 re Chassis GCK-24 Sales The above car was sent to us by JLB with a complaint of very bad low speed steering wobble. We examined the steering parts and found the ball joint at the back end of the side steering tube was loose, and we therefore adjusted this, in accordance with the instructions given on Page 76 of the 20 H.P. Instruction Book. This considerably lessened the steering wobble complained of, but it was still not passable, as a wobble still came on on rough roads and did not right itself when the steering wheel was released. We then dismantled the pivots and found the gun metal washers G.51848 had practically no bearing surface, they were only touching on two or three places which were really burrs. These washers were bedded and upon re-erecting all parts the steering was found to be satisfactory. The car was then sent back to JLB who was able to pass same.
