Dear Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer},

With reference to the spark plug trouble you are having in your cars, I am afraid that we have little or no American experience to draw upon because mica plugs, as you are aware, are not used over there for automobiles.

Our laboratory has, however, asked me to get hold of six plugs which are in the condition to give trouble, and six new plugs of the same type in order that they may be able to investigate matters and see whether they can advise any modifications, etc. They would also like to know details of the engine, such as compression ratio, etc.

If, therefore, you can send me six defective plugs and six new ones, I would be pleased to send them across to Detroit for examination. In the meantime, if you think that I can do any good I will be pleased to come up to Derby sometime next week and discuss the matter with you.

With kind regards,

Yours sincerely,
FRBanks.
