The Empire Rubber Company,
Dunstable,
Beds.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of May 31st. with reference to the sponge rubber with live skin, which is to replace the sponge velvet section. We appreciate your difficulties in arriving at the correct size of the sponge, due to swelling after moulding.

As we are anxious to get a satisfactory seal which we can use for production after the war, we shall be obliged if you will carry out further experiments so that we can be sure of obtaining a satisfactory seal when it is required.

Regarding the lengths of rubber weatherstrip to our drawing RB.{R. Bowen}18010, we are glad to note you are putting this work in hand immediately as we are anxious to get sufficient of this material that is satisfactory for use on the experimental body. We think you know that the part which contacts the door and forms a seal should be as soft as possible.

Yours faithfully,
for ROLLS-ROYCE LIMITED,
