Dear Mr. Ward,

Thank you for your letter of May 30th. with reference to the seat fittings on the "Ripple" and "Ripplet" bodies. I note that you are endeavouring to obtain two sets of seat fittings Mark III/6. Should you have any difficulty in obtaining these fittings from Chapmans, a new half fitting of Mark V/DZ would get us out of the trouble. The half of the fitting that has given out has the flattest section and is attached to the seat; the other half which is an angle section, hasnot given out.

I note that the makers of the seats are the Lace Web Company whom I do not think you can hold responsible for this trouble. The real cause of the trouble I think, is that with the fitting used, there should have been a stiffener between the two cross members of the seat, which would have supported the seat slide. However, if you can get the Mark III/6 fittings, it will be much better but failing this, the new half fittings of the type at present fitted, will do as we shall fit the additional stiffeners previously mentioned.

Yours sincerely,
