Y3592 To BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} HS.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} EP.{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer} FROM R.{Sir Henry Royce} c. to CJ. BJ. R1/M3.12.24. RE. GOSHAWKS. X.3592 X.3587 I was pleased to hear that No.4 Goshawk had not been fitted with the RR. starter motor pinion, but had the original Bijur. It may now be considered that the RR. Bijur pinions are satisfactory and have always been consistent, but that neither the original Bendix or original Bijur are satisfactory, and should be changed as soon as possible for the RR. type which is standard on production cars. I have not heard if the RR. Bendix has been made, and if so, how it shewed on test. There were also two schemes of pinion, one being specially designed for replacing on existing cars.
