"N" Scheme 736 shews the proposed combined cut-out and regulator, the cut-out based on the Bleriot-Phi design, with a few modifications such as the proposed method of regulating the tension of the spring. We have shewn their system of auxiliary carbon contacts, as we think it has the advantage of giving a parallel motion, but in case it is not approved we have also indicated an alternative method of holding the carbon in the left hand corner.

The voltage regulator is based on the standard R.R. Trembler, though the construction of the magneto core varies the actual arrangement a little. We have examined the question of laminating the core, and we came to the conclusion that it would be thought not worth the trouble.

As far as the electrical and magnetic quantities are concerned, we have consulted Mr Clark in a general way and he agrees, generally, that it would be possible to combine the cut-out and regulator on the same core, and use a Bleriot-type of cut-out which interposed resistance, but these quantities have yet to be worked out in detail.
