(2). On "N" Scheme 717 we have shewn the proposed switch box on the instrument board. The idea of this is to take Mr Royce's ignition switch box, and high lighting switch box, and if possible join them into one. In doing this we have made some proposals regarding the construction of the ignition switch, amongst others a method of making the positioning device, which it is thought might be simple and cheap. There is also a new method of mounting the brushes. The lock is a standard yale piece, which locks in one complete revolution of the key, and therefore the key can be drawn out both in the locked and unlocked position, without the need of an additonal row of holes. On this scheme we have shewn a suggestion for making it impossible to lock the car until the head lights are switched off, and we have also indicated how it would be possible to lock the side lights so that they could not be switched off, when required. We have indicated a magneto switch, in case this should ultimately be used. We have also indicated another way of making the switch knobs on the lighting circuit so as to avoid the somewhat unfinished appearance of the knobs, that is obtained at present, and at the same time to lock the knobs so that they cannot come undone. On "N" Scheme 721 we have shewn our proposal for adding a head lamp dimmer to the switch box, but we understand now, that Mr Olley thinks that the standard English system with side lights renders it unnecessary to use head lamp dimmers, and as this proposal makes the switchbox a little more bulky, it would no doubt be very desirable to get rid of it.
