to Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} from EV.{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} X5380 EV{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}1.13.6.25. RE "INDIA" SUB-FRAMES. We thank you for your By/C24/W11.6.25. and F.{Mr Friese} 53572 enclosed. In general the scheme seems to have worked out quite well and the only comment which we have to make is that we would like the flanges of the sub-frame to commence to narrow off as soon as possible after the support as indicated on the print herewith as we fear that the frame will be too wide for some bodies. As it is the top flange that concerns us in this respect we wonder whether it would be a difficult task to cut it off more than the bottom one, should this difficulty arise. With reference to the modification of the centre step-iron at the top to clear the sub-frame we were aware that it called for new dies but we could see no other real way out of the difficulty. The experimental ones can be made by either heating up a existing step-iron and forging or by cutting of the protruding pot and welding. With "N"Sch. 1989 together with the previous information already sent to you, we have completed the sub-frame except for the Heel-board Cross-Member which you shall have in the course of a few days. We shall rely on Derby to keep the sub-frame designs up to date with the various series of "INDIA" as we come to the revised pedals and the frame with the joggle moved back. It will be necessary to ascertain from Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} the type of the chassis each time we order a sub-frame. We understand that Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} needs one frame immediately for a "Raked" column chassis. Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork} | ||
