SECRET & CONFIDENTIAL [Struck through text] c. to Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} re Design Office at Clan. I hope that Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/JD.{J. Draper - Frames} and Ev{Ivan Evernden - coachwork}/DB.{Donald Bastow - Suspensions} will cooperate to carry on the chassis design work with the help of J.Burkinshaw, D Kightley, T.A.Swinden and C.L. Cantrill who should join you in the new office. As soon as you are settled in you will resume the work already in hand and I will take an early opportunity of formulating with you a programme for the future. At the same time I will bring over the 6 cylinder engine which Mr. Peak at the moment is projecting. It is intended that you should obtain lor 2 people from Mr. Hunt, and this engine should be designed with the help of Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/WH. and Rm{William Robotham - Chief Engineer}/TAG. I would like to continue the use of PL. numbers. I shall continue the fortnightly design progress report and shall have to appeal to you to supply me with the necessary information from your department. This new move has been made because we wish the chassis design work not to be hampered more than is absolutely unavoidable by the War Work which we have untaken. I am sure that it is your desire as much as mine that the object shall be achieved. To ensure this some overtime will be necessary and I would like you to work 2 nights per week. Will you please let me know the nights that you propose, I suggest that they should bear some reference to the normal procedure of the Drawing Office staff at the Clan Exptl. I shall endeavour to pay you a visit Most [Text cut off] | ||
