X386 MARTINDALE BY.{R.W. Bailey - Chief Engineer} C. Ex. De. Hs.{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair} Tno. E/HDY.{William Hardy}1/HP.8.4.36. Rear Foot Brake Equaliser. Phantom III We send herewith N.Sch.4793 which shows our suggestion to meet the complaint made by the Production Dept. that the drilling and pinning of the fulcrum pin in the bracket on the axle is found to be a troublesome job. We have deleted the cross pin and instead, the fulcrum pin is a taper fit in the bracket. A light tap on the end of the equaliser should provide sufficient friction on the taper to prevent the fulcrum pin from being turned by a nut of reasonable tightness when assembling the equaliser in the bracket. The fulcrum pin having been secured in place the friction on the taper should be ample to prevent the pin from turning even with seized needle roller bearings. E/HDY.{William Hardy} | ||
