RE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER BALL ENDS WORKING LOOSE. With further reference to the above and to the enquiry made by your assistant this morning, as pointed out to him, and in view of the fact that the Experimental Dept. are emphatic on the point that a similar fitting on their experimental car would not work loose during the various routine of tests, we have concluded that the design must be in order, and it must be a question of faulty construction or erecting. We have taken action accordingly, and special attention is being given to the manufacture, erecting and testing of this part. On investigating the job, however, I am surprised to learn that according to the drawings, the fit of this ball end into the hole of the axle allows a clearance of .008" ot .017". I am very anxious that this matter should be gone into thoroughly, as whilst we are deciding on some action with regard to this matter, cars are being delivered which may give trouble when in customer's hands.
