X.3763a (crossed out) X.3Y43a X.2681 With reference to Mr. Platford's memo EP{G. Eric Platford - Chief Quality Engineer}7/F27.1.20., as these shock absorber ball ends are coming loose, there is no doubt that something will have to be done immediately because even if it is that they are coming loose because they are not tightened up properly, it is evident that we must not expect that they will not get any better attention than they do at present. The fact remains that 1.EX Car has run about 3000 miles, 8.EX Car about 2000 miles and 49-GB Car about 3000 miles fitted with these ball ends and they have given no trouble. We have run a chassis on be bumping test for 150 hours and have broken up several chassis' completely in the process but the ball ends have not budged. It might be worth while looking to see, in the cases where they have come loose, that the shoulder of the ball end is square, that the face to which the nut is screwed up is square and the nut itself is square with the thread.
