To Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Bwg.{J. C. Bowring} Copy to E.{Mr Elliott - Chief Engineer} De. HDY.{William Hardy} Phantom III D.W.S. Jacks. We thank you for your Hs{Lord Ernest Hives - Chair}/Bwg.{J. C. Bowring}14/KW.6.1.36. If the transverse brake rope is assembled with the adjustment at the centre of the car as shown on LeC 4575, the clearance between the plain fork on the brake rope and the Lockheed flexible to the jack will be adequate. The brake rope on 32-EX is so assembled, and bears this out. The brake rope guide is applied to the rope from the near side, and according to the drawing, this rope should be approximately 1" clear of the jack. Again, we believe, that an examination of 32-EX bears this out. There is a point at issue concerning the brake rope guide. This cannot be drawn off the axle without dismantling the propeller shaft, as you quite rightly point out. We have mentioned this matter to the person responsible who will take the necessary action.
