it does not come to a stop, causing the gear changing to be noisy. I surmise that either the plate gets slightly distorted when heated or there may be some oil coming from the Engine causing a film of oil between plate & Ferodo.
Re-Brakes - On the 5th inst. I replaced the Ferodo Servo shoes by those fitted with cast-iron liners - Since we have a better action of the rear Brakes, but still insufficient for Sir Northy's desire.
I have this morning taken up one notch on the Front brakes, but I could not take up any on the rear ones, which is proof that the front brakes are more often on than the rear ones -
I have taken up slack in the cables of rear brakes.
To-day we have had better brakes than ever before - The shoes supplied to use as spares had different fixing bolts to the moving plate than the old ones - I have had to rimc out hole on distance plate behind sphere & also hole on lever connecting top & bottom shoes - If any more are supplied they should be as the ones supplied to use as spares owing to the riming effected.
Before Terminating I want to mention that to-day for the 1st time we have had the water boiling while doing mountain work -
after taking off the blanking plate temperature kept O.K. & never surpassed 80° -
The Steering has not given any more trouble since the roads surface has improved -
I do not think there is much wrong with it -
I will close now & I will further report from Nice on Saturday next.
Yours faithfully
S. H.{Arthur M. Hanbury - Head Complaints} Laws.
