Attention F.J. Hardy Esq.

Dear Sirs,

We thank you for your letter of the 23rd inst., and have duly noted that the bore of your steering gear housing for the cam bearings is 2.3125" and that you machine this to suit the bearings.

In this connection we would state that the manufacturing tolerance we propose on the bearing cups is +.0005" and -.0000" and we trust that this will be suitable to you. The fit which we recommend for these cups would be a light interference fit, say, .0025" to .0005" Tight.

We also have pleasure in enclosing herewith a blue print from our drawing No TS/S.16085 which has now been renumbered TS/S.16083.A. We confirm that the dimension given as .532" is the distance between the abutment faces of the bearing cup and the corner of the roll at the large end, and we have also added our manufacturing limits to this dimension. This will, we trust, enable you to determine the distance between the cone profiles on the steering worm. The official number now given to this bearing is 31.C-32.X.

We also note that you intend to try out our bearings on the roller and that you will require our assembled cone No A.4059 which has the 0.590" bore. We are pleased to note that you will be sending us an order for some of these in the near future, and should be glad if you would quote our reference number accordingly.

We should also be obliged if you would let us know the width over the outside faces of the bearing cones for the roller and also the width of the roller itself, as
