P.III - AZ. SERIES.

Cricklewood came up against trouble with the crankcase oil filler when fitting the drain pipes to an over-oiling complaint of the above series. The filler pipe is smaller in dia. and is approx. .500" higher on the crankcase than the later series. The drain pipe designed for the later oil filler could not be fitted. The Dept. telephoned the Works who apparently did not know of the change in design, and instructed Cricklewood to leave the job until the matter had been seen into.

The car in question was finished up to the point of connecting the drain to the filler pipe and the owner required the car. I, therefore, along with Cliburn got out a scheme so that the original filler pipe could be used and a satisfactory job has been made. A boss was welded on to the under side of the filler pipe to take the union. The drain pipe was bent to clear the feed pipe of the oil cooler. The only objection is that a small quantity of oil will remain in the bottom portion of the drain pipe when standing. Sketch herewith.
