EFC. {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} from Wd. {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} c. to CC/Dn. X4279 Wd {Mr Wood / Mr Whitehead} 8/NJ18.5.21. X.2375. X.4181 X.4279. WATFORD MAGNETOS. Upon receipt of yours EFC {E. Fowler Clarke - Electrical Engineer} 8/T6.5.21 I wrote North & Sons Ltd. remarking that you had reported that in addition to the E.6 type magneto, they (Norths) hoped very shortly to be in a position to offer another type of magneto with a larger armature and increased length of safety gap. I asked Norths whether they could fix an approximate date on which we could count on their being in a position to deliver quantities of the new type magneto with larger armature, adding that at the present time we have in stock 356 magnetos of the E.6 type, the unused balance of which we should like to ultimately exchange for magnetos of the new type with larger armature and increased length of safety gap. I asked whether they (Norths) would be willing to take off our hands any balance of the E.6 type which we might have in hand when the new type of magneto with larger armature is available in quantities. We are now in receipt of a letter from North & Sons Ltd. dated 13th inst. as follows :- "We beg to say that our Mr. North & Allen, "together with your Mr. Fowler Clark and Mr. Hives, "had an interview with Mr. Royce, when the matter of "the modification to our Model E.O.6 type magneto was "discussed, with a view to giving you at shorter notice "than would be possible with the large armature type "magneto with a larger safety gap. "This question is receiving our careful attention, "and we will write you fully on the subject as soon as "we have been able to carry out the modifications which "were then discussed, and to test the machine in which "they have been embodied. "We will write you at the same time on the subject "of the E.6 magnetos which you have in stock." You have already informed me verbally of the interview with R. {Sir Henry Royce} and I shall now wait until I hear further from you in this matter before taking any action.
