Rm.{William Robotham - Chief Engineer} would like a statement from Service Stations of the seriousness of these complaints. A permanent cure for both is to be introduced on "E" Series.

Will Service Stations please report whether there have been any complaints of clunks on cars fitted with the new gear box stay.

[280] BROKEN DIFFERENTIAL CASING
A broken casing reported from Paris hasnot yet been received at Derby for examination. Instructions are being issued that the remaining 34 cars which have the original type of casing shall have the strengthened type fitted.
