Peregrine Oil Pump.
-----------------

Referring to the question of modifying the size of the Peregrine oil pump, we are aware that there is a considerable quantity of oil discharged through the relief valve at 4500 r.p.m.

We understand that at this speed only 16% goes through the main bearings. We should like to know however how this figure varies with speed, particularly at the lower speeds before deciding that a reduction in the size of the oil pump should be carried out.

The present width of the oil pump gears is .7" and assuming that the figures we ask for are in agreement with the pump being too large at all speeds we propose to cut down this figure to .5" by filling in a .2" packing piece on experimental pumps.
